The overlap had been broken on several occasions but always re-established soon after. There were numerous "Y" flags, but in all cases Yellow was keeping clear and Blue did not have to alter course to avoid. On one occasion there was nearly contact between Blue's spinnaker and Yellow's backstay, some 2-3 metres forward of the scoop.The umpires were not convinced about the contact, and, had contact occured Blue would have been penalised for not given Yellow room to keep clear. Blue, at no time, sailed above her proper course. Green flag. At position 4 Blue gybed away and Yellow followed, Blue gybed back at position 6 and was subject to R15 and the only course that Yellow could sail was straight ahead or to luff slightly.
